Description: Rochester Institute of Technology's English Language Center is designed for students who plan to attend a university in the United States, have a high school diploma, are at least 17 years old, and have previously studied English. The English Language Center conducts 11-week programs every fall, winter, spring and summer.
During the first few days, students participate in orientation activities to become familiar with the English Language Center and the city of Rochester. They also take English language proficiency tests and are placed at the level which best serves their needs. Classes are offered at three skill levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Language lab is offered 10 hours per week for students to practice English, use computers, and get assistance from an instructor. Full-time students in the intensive English program have at least 20 class-hours weekly in grammar, reading, writing, conversation and vocabulary.
In addition to studying, students have a lot of fun. They swim, play tennis, soccer, basketball, ice skate, and go bowling. They visit Niagara Falls, local museums, festivals, concerts, parks, and lakes in beautiful Upstate New York.
