Bears Swimming Boot Camp -Residential Swim Camp

Description:
SUNY Potsdam and Northern TRIBS Swimming have partnered to offer an invigorating week of training designed for competitive swimmers age 11 to 18. Camp Director Joshua Jock will be joined by Northern TRIBS coaches and other guest coaches to bring direction, skill enhancement, and fun to individuals looking to prepare for the upcoming swim season.
Instruction includes freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly focusing on stroke refinement as well as starts and turns. Videos of world- class swimmers will be the focus of classroom sessions. Above and underwater videos are used to assist with stroke evaluation. Dryland training sessions are held to provide a complete experience for all campers. Overall the program provides an excellent pre-season training session for all levels of competitive swimmers and a fun-filled week of camp activities with friends new and old.
To round out the traditional camp experience, swimming sessions are coordinated with recreational and social activities. In compliance with New York State Department of Health guidelines, campers are supervised throughout activities by trained camp counselors/instructors.
Joshua Jock is a graduate of SUNY Potsdam with degrees in Theatre Arts and Childhood Education.

Can-Am Hoops Classic: BasketballTournaments for Boys and Girls

Description:
Sponsored by Anaconda Sports®, we invite you to join us for a first class event to be held in beautiful Northern New York at SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson University. Our previous events were a huge success and we anticipate a full field this year.
GAMES:Each team is guaranteed four games. Boys and girls divisions will be organized by the following age groups: 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17. In addition, A & B levels in each age division will be established (if possible) to allow teams of similar caliber to compete against each other. We will attempt to form A & B pools of five teams for each age group. If possible, each team will play all the respective teams in their pool.
We will make every effort to provide a top quality event by limiting the number of teams, providing highly capable timers and scorers, and utilizing only certified referees.
Note: Not all teams are scheduled for Friday games. We will try to accommodate reasonable scheduling requests if possible.
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION: Invitations are being mailed to various Northeastern states in the U.S. and to the Ontario and Québec provinces of Canada. We expect to have several Canadian teams in each age group.

Crane Youth Music Camp: Instrumental and Vocal

Description:
Crane Youth Music (CYM) was founded in 1972 and is proud to be celebrating its 38th session this summer. To this day, CYM continues a heritage of outstanding and cost effective musical training for young musicians, ages 12-18, throughout the eastern United States.

The staff includes Crane School of Music faculty supplemented by additional guest artists/teachers. All students attend master classes taught by master teachers, perform in large group ensembles, and have the opportunity to receive training in music theory and aural skills. String performers participate in string sectionals and chamber music groups in addition to orchestra. Pianists receive individual lessons, coaching, and group piano instruction in the electronic piano labs. Vocalists perform in a variety of choral ensembles and work in small class lessons as well as master classes. Instrumentalists rehearse with a band twice daily and also perform in chamber ensembles. Crane has an outstanding choral heritage and all students have the opportunity to perform in the all-camp choir.

Potsdam “Bears” International Summer Basketball Camp

Description:
For the past 39 years, the Potsdam Bears International Summer Basketball Camp has attracted over 11,500 campers from the small towns of northern New York, 20 different states, the provinces of Ontario and Québec, and around the world. As one of the most highly rated camps in the country, players will learn the fundamentals of basketball for the 40th consecutive year. Last summer 350 players learned skills through individual and group instruction from a staff of over 65 top-notch college and high school coaches.

Since many of the campers are from Canada, this co-ed camp is truly international in flavor. It is one of the only camps in the country where students from both countries have an opportunity to learn about their different cultures and play on the same team. Although both boys and girls attend camp in the same session, the skill groups and teams are not co-ed. Campers will be grouped by age and/or ability level to ensure their maximum development. In addition, an Olympic-size pool, a state-of-the-art weight and exercise room, indoor and outdoor tracks, and a modern athletic training room are available for all campers.
